Designer's Showcase Meet the Artist ... Jim Shaver Turning came as a postscript to Jim Shaver's woodworking; he helped the widow of a cancer victim sell off her husband’s shop, and she gave Jim his lathe. Not sure what he could do with a lathe—other than turn legs—he sought help online, most notably from Bill Grumbine. Jim was traveling near Bill’s home for work, and in the evenings, he would visit Bill and learn some of the basics of turning wood. It was during the course of one of these visits that he asked Bill to show him how to make a pen. After that, there was no turning back... – |
