Vase (glue up model)

Recently I made a vase of a glue up model.
It's a combination of different woodspieces, like panga panga, teak, yellow pine and white oak
Wanted to show you this as my first posting.

Hi Ad,

I like your vase but find that the very white outer pieces (are they pine?) seem to dominate the vase and draw the eye away from other details. I wonder if it would have looked better without them. Can we have a bit more detail - what glue did you use, did you use a planar-thicknesser to get the pieces right, etc?

Thanks Bob for your attention, the white outer pieces are yellow pine. Well it was my meaning to let this pieces to stand out of the rest of the vase, so they really did. But I guess it's just a matter of taste, one like it, another don''t like it, and everything inbetween.
I have not any machinery, unless my own made like my lathe and grinder, and a table drill press, not much space in my little workshop.
So I'm used to to do everything with my hands, so also handplaning for getting all the pieces right, well a little bit patient is needed.
I use for my glueing work Bison professional superfast and superstrong woodglue. One houre waiting is enough. This is a Dutch product.

What an interesting piece - I don't believe I have seen anything like it before. That you do so much of this by hand is really amazing, and a testament to your talent and patience!
The more I look at the piece the more I like it. I agree that the large white sections draw the eye - but that works for me. I imagine as time passes the white (no doubt stronger in the photo because of the nature of the photograph), will blend in with less contrast.
I like the oval piece breaking up the pattern - very nice.
