Jet midi lathe duplicator???

Postby JTTHECLOCKMAN » Mon Aug 24, 2009 10:27 pm

I have a jet 1220 midilathe. I have a project that requires matching spindles. I need 24. I am not a great turner so I do not have enough confidence in me being able to duplicate that many of the same spindles. They will be next to each other so comparisons will be easily detected.

My question is there a duplicator out there that is worthy and can be used with this lathe??? I know what you true turners are thinking but I am not at that point in my turning career. How accurate can a duplicator reproduce??? Thanks and please don't laugh at me. Thanks in advance for the replys.

I know that PSI makes duplicators, but I don't know if it will fit. You could also check the Jet website.

How much $ do you want to spend? PSI has a duplicator to fit your mini, and there is another out there (the name will not come to me right now) that will run you 600.00???? Neither duplicates perfectly..you will have to turn and sand...good luck

"gal turner" may be referring to the Vega line of duplicators; you can see them on Amazon. I know they have a "midi" duplicator that will fit a Jet mini, but it's capacity is 10" (length). They also have bigger ones, but I don't know about compatibility with your lathe. I think it is around $600, but is worth checking out...which is free!! Good luck to you in finishing your project, whatever path you take to that end.
