Taping bowl to lathe?

I recent completed a nice bowl. At the end I reverse mounted it so I could clean up the bottom, sand and polish.

I have seen demonstration where the turned literally tape the bowl to the face plate. the only tape I had on hand was duct tape which I feared would damage the finish.

Does anyone a recommendation for what tape to use?
