Below you will find the supply lists for the projects featured in the Summer 2008 (#18) issue of Woodturning Design.

CROSS GRAIN PENS

Tools:
Bandsaw

7mm drill bit (or appropriate for your kit)

PSI kit number PK-PENA2P (or other style as desired)
PSI pen bushings PKM-BUSH3 (or to match selected kit)
Two cross grain pen blanks 3/4” square by 2-1/8” long (or sized as necessary for selected kit)
Both thin and thick CA
Fine abrasive paper: 220, 240,320,400
Friction polish (I use Mylands’ High Build)
Soft rags torn into 1-1/2”squares
Acetone
Wax paper or packing foam

BASKET ILLUSION: Tools:

Lathe with a 4-jawed chuck and Jumbo Jaws, a 5/8” bowl gouge, a 1/2” bead forming tool, and a 3/4” round scraper; Razertip pyrography machine with an interchangeable handpiece with custom bent wire tip; 3/8” angle drill with 2” hook and loop sanding pads.

Supplies:
2” 180 grit Velcro abrasive discs, lacquer,  Sharpie* and/or Prismacolor* markers--green, light green, yellow and black--or color of choice

LIDDED BOWLS Project Supplies:
Wood
1 Piece Canary wood 2” thick x 6" wide x 6" long
1 Piece Canary wood 1-1/2" square x 3" long
1 piece Bloodwood 1-1/4” thick x 6" wide x 6" long

Materials:
Cyanoacrylate glue, assorted abrasive paper, and finish of choice.

Tools:
Faceplate, spur drive, live center, spindle and faceplate chisels. Scroll chucks and Steb centers

PHOENIX PENS: Tools:
Jointer, bandsaw, square and drill press with a 5/8” Forstner bit.

Materials
2x4 scraps, sawdust and shavings, food grains of your choice, a medium size sifter, small coffee grinder (optional), assorted plastic caps to use as measuring cups, one 2” piece of 5/8”diameter dowel, a 3” bolt with a 5/8” head, knob, (optional), liquid wood hardener (I use Minwax Wood Hardener) two types of cyanoacrylate glue:water thin and medium viscosity, abrasive paper; 220 to 2000 grit (or higher),wax paper, and pen finish of your choice
