1 piece, 3-1/2” x 16” strip of plain newspaper.

Tools:
Lathe with a hollow cup center that has a 5/32” hole in the center* for the tailstock and a square driver that fits into the headstock, 3/4” spindle gouge, 1/4” spindle gouge, skew, wood rasp (When Dad makes the pen blank end too fat for the square drive, I have to rasp it to size.) variable speed drill, 5/32” x 12” aircraft drill bit**, #21 drill bit, power sanding mandrel, trim saw, and a buffing system.
Materials:
1/2” x 8-1/2” pen blank, paraffin wax, Bic brand Round Stic or Cristal pens, 220, 320, 400 and 600 grit abrasive paper, polyurethane or finish of choice, brown Tripoli buffing compound, and Renaissance wax.
