DRESSED-UP HAND WHEEL Harry Gilliand Pages 33-35	TOOLS NEEDED: Band saw; ruler; awl; lathe with faceplate and assorted chisels; drill press with 1/16" and 1/4" twist drill bits, 1/2" spade bit, and plug cutter; and a screwdriver. SUPPLIES NEEDED: 1" x 5-1/2" diameter blank; faceplate to fit outboard spindle; 3 each, 1/4" x 3/4" flat head, machine screws; assorted grits of abrasive paper, and Deft or finish of choice.

TURNING MANZANITA ROOT Sam Angelo pages 36-40	SUPPLIES NEEDED: Wood: Sandblasted Manzanita root burl approximately 5" x 8" and another small piece of root (sized to fit) for the lid. 1 piece of African blackwood, 1" square x 4" for the finial. Assorted sanding discs in assorted grits, tung oil, Behlen Wood Turners Finish, and Deft or finish of choice. TOOLS NEEDED: Bandsaw; drill press with a 3/8" and 1/2" Forstner bit; lathe with a scroll chuck with pin jaws and spigot jaws, 3/8” screw chuck, 3/8” shallow flute detail gouge, 1/2” bowl gouge, 1/2” skew chisel, parting tool and a shopmade square scraper; and a hand-held electric drill with sanding mandrel and buffing wheel.
